For those who landed by chance, please visit the Help Center page to know more about Learnmet platform. In this article, we will tell you what you should do immediately after signing up.
The platform is for a wide range of learner segments like professionals, job seekers, college students, school students and individuals with a continuous need for improving skills. On the other side, it is for professional trainers, teachers independent subject matter experts looking for a way to leverage online communities to improve skills for others and make a passive or active income out of online teaching. Whether it's mathematics, language, programming, machine learning, photography or fitness Learnmet has smart tools for all kinds of knowledge sharing scenarios integrated with a global multi-currency marketplace.
Now let's take a quick look at the things you must do after your sign up process is complete.
1. Sign In and Setup Profile
Go to the Sign In page. Sign in as a teacher or as a student. After you log in for the first time, you should upload a nice profile photo and cover photo on your social timeline.
Next, you should go to your profile tabs on your Learnmet dashboard to complete your profile by filling in information about yourself, you skill sharing interests, your preferences on various Learnmet features.
Here is a list of fields you must fill in to let the Learnmet system work efficiently for you
1. First Name Last Name, Title, Country, State, City, Date of Birth, Primary Interest to join Learnmet
2. A short description of yourself (Short Bio), More details about yourself (Full Bio)
3. Your teaching profile information (Primary skills, secondary skills, experience, device preference, teaching preferences)
4. Your online teaching service rates and proof of birth (if you wish to teach and earn on Learnmet marketplace)
5. (Switch to Student profile) - Your desired learning skills and choice of device.
2. Create your first post and add a hashtag - #myfirstpost or #ilovelearnmet
As soon as you update your profile come back to your social timeline create your first post with the hashtag #ilovelearnmet and #myfirstpost. If you are a student you can also add a post describing your learning needs with a hashtag #ineedhelp (by hitting the button - "Need Help".
3. Start following others to build your community
While you are on your Learnmet timeline you will see few recommendations to follow others in the Learnmet community. We suggest you follow these recommended users to give your learnmet community building process a kick start instantly.
4. Invite Others
The next important step is to invite your friends, teachers, and students to join Learnmet. The more connected we are on Learnet the better our opportunities are no matter you are here to as a teacher, trainer or a student. At Learnmet, you can either invite others using by entering their email addresses or by inviting your facebook contacts. Also, note that you earn learnmet reward points when you invitees create a learnmet account. Check this help center link for more information about inviting others.
5. Try messaging
Learnmet offers a simple messaging function for users on the platform. To try the messaging function you can simply send a 'Hello' message your Learnmet connections or if you do not have enough connections yet, just send a hi to us or ask a question by sending a message to the Learnmet Admin account. We will be more than happy to respond to your message. Just type in "Learnmet Admin" in the search field at the top of the page, click on the Learnmet profile with the Learnmet logo, click on the email icon to send a message. All the messages you sent and all related replies could be found the Messages link at dashboard left panel.
6. Try the 'Virtual Classroom'
Now let's get ready to try going live. Click on the "Try Virtual Classroom" link at the header menu from your Learnmet dashboard. You can either invite five other individuals using their email address to try it together. If you are not ready to invite others, you can simply click on "Start Live Session" and try it yourself.
It is very important that you understand how virtual classroom works before you start real-time, live teaching or learning on Learnmet. You should test how the 'Virtual Classroom' works on your computer or laptop, how it responds to your web camera, microphone or headphone and make alternative arrangements accordingly. We suggest you contact Learnmet support for any further guidance. You should understand the process on your favorite web browser as well. You should also be familiar with different controls and functions of the virtual classroom. Please note all virtual classroom sessions are recorded for you to view later from the dashboard.
After spending about 20 mins with functions like; whiteboard, screen share, file upload, file share, private chat, public chat, layouts and various moderator controls, you are another step ahead. After you are done trying and close session the system will process every minute of you past session, consolidate into a recording and makes it available for you to see it in about 20 mins. You can keep checking the "My Videos" link for a newly recorded session with a name starting with the prefix 'TRY-'.
6. Try creating a sample course
The next idea would be to try the course management functions. You should start with 'Create Course' and start a draft course. This will give you an idea how basic course information, chapters, sections and other smart functions work. Knowing the tool in advance helps you plan your course creation strategy for effective use of your time.
A draft course is not available publicly to search and view, only you can see it from the dashboard. A draft course is only published when it is reviewed by Learnmet's course review team. That means you are free to play around with multiple draft courses to learn the tool.
7. Write and publish an article using the 'Article Factory'
Next thing you should try is writing an article. Learnmet provides you a simple but powerful content editor to express your thoughts in words, images and videos. You may not be ready to publish an article but you must try the features to see how they work, save a draft for further editing.
Giving it a try also quickly helps you understand some basic navigations and functions of the platform from the computer, laptop or mobile devices like smartphones or tablets. It also helps sharpen your creative writing skills no matter you are on Learnmet as a teacher, student, parent or on behalf of your organization. Learnmet articles could be used as a free content marketing tool as long as the content goes by the purpose of the platform.
8. Know your calendar
Now that you have some idea about how some of the core functions of Learnmet works the next idea would be to look at the collaboration part of it. Learnmet offers a personal and professional calendar for every user which seamlessly integrated to various products and services on Learnmet like 'Instant Connect', 'Future Connect', 'Instructor-Led Course' and 'Ad-Hoc Sessions'.
The calendar has two views, the one from dashboard puts you in control for a wide range of functions like adding a public event, adding an instructor-led course schedule, accepting live session requests on a particular calendar date and much more. Different colors on calendar entries are designed to remind you of different types of events and tasks to make you more productive, responsive and organized for your sessions.
Another view of your calendar is accessible at your public profile view where others can access your calendar to request a session, to enroll in your sessions or to see when you are busy or available.
10. Leave a feedback for us to improve
On the right side of every page, there is a feedback button. Just click on that and rate us between 0 and 10 and select and area to add your feedback comments. You comments are very important for us to understand our areas of improvements.
